The Surfrajettes are a four-piece instrumental surf rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 2015, known for their reverb-drenched guitars, retro ’60s style, and energetic live performances. Founded by guitarists Shermy Freeman and Nicole Damoff, the band blends classic surf rock vibes with a psychedelic edge, incorporating vintage aesthetics like beehive hairdos and go-go boots into their stage presence. They first garnered widespread attention with a surf-style cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” which went viral online, and have since toured extensively across North America and Europe. Their debut full-length album, Roller Fink, was released in 2022 on Hi-Tide Recordings, followed by their sophomore LP Easy as Pie in 2024, both showcasing their mix of originals and inventive surf arrangements of classic tunes. With current members including Freeman, Damoff, bassist Sarah Butler, and drummer Annie Lillis, The Surfrajettes continue to champion and revitalize surf rock for contemporary audiences.
