An inventive and free-spirited mathcore collective from Atlanta, Georgia, Callous Daoboys emerged in the late 2010s with a sound rooted in the chaos and cacophony of forebears like Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, and the Chariot. The band’s potent and third studio album, Celebrity Therapist, was released in 2022 to critical acclaim.

The group was formed in 2016 by vocalist Carson Pace, guitarist Maddie Caffrey, drummer Alex Jerral, bassist Claire Darling, and violinist Amber Christman. Combining elements of nu-metal, art-rock, hardcore, and pop, the band issued their debut EP, My Dixie Wrecked, and LP, Animal Tetris, in 2017. A series of personnel changes preceded the release of the group’s sophomore effort, 2019’s immersive and freewheeling Die on Mars, with drummer Jerral and bassist Darling leaving the band. Callous Daoboys continued to shun traditional songwriting architectures on their vibrant, envelope-pushing third full-length outing, Celebrity Therapist. Released in 2022, the album added Daniel Hodsdon (guitar), Abby Sherman (synthesizer), Matthew Ryan (drums), and Rich Castillo (saxophone) to the roster.
