Shady Bug are a St. Louis indie rock band blending shoegaze haze, jagged guitar interplay, off-kilter rhythms, and sweet pop melody into what they call “earnest patchwork pop-gaze.” Led by singer/guitarist Hannah Rainey, the band have spent the past decade growing out of the city’s DIY scene through releases like tbh idk, Lemon Lime, and What’s the Use?. Their 2026 album I wanted to be there pushes that sound into dreamier, more dynamic territory, balancing fuzzy guitars and experimental turns with deeply personal songwriting.
