On Wednesday, October 29, Metro Baltimore was proud to partner with WTMD for a special celebration of Public Radio Music Day, joining nearly 100 music stations nationwide in highlighting the vital role public radio plays in connecting communities through music.

As part of the festivities, Bahamas performed an intimate happy-hour set for a few hundred WTMD listeners inside our Station North home—just days after the release of his new record, My Second Last Album, released on October 24 on Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records.

Bahamas is the musical project of Afie Jurvanen, a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his warm, unhurried melodies and wry, clear-eyed lyricism. After leaving city life behind for the quiet of Nova Scotia, Jurvanen recorded his latest LP in a shed studio with longtime collaborator Joshua Van Tassel. My Second Last Album blends soul, folk, country-funk, and pop, pairing breezy grooves with candid reflections on family, resilience, and finding peace outside the spotlight. From the easy strut of “Feels So Good” to the playful honesty of lead single “The Bridge,” it’s one of his most personal and essential releases to date.
